Cambrian Tyres League – Division 1
The Magpies kept the pressure on Bont and Talybont at the top of the Cambrian Tyres League after coming out on top in a 7 goal thriller at Tregaron in this re-arranged league encounter.
In difficult conditions Street started well and took the lead with a header from young Ryan Evans for his first senior goal for the club. Turfs were back level after 25 minutes after converting a spot kick. Tregaron were the better team for the remainder of the first half.
The second half was an entertaining encounter with end to end action. Nick Smith was the first to strike restoring the Magpies lead and it wasn’t too much longer until Shaun Jones added to that to continue with his scoring streak. Credit to a young Tregaron team who kept battling and their reward were two goals to bring the teams back level at 3 a piece.
With the game coming to an end it was Smith who secured the three points with his second of the game when his shot from the edge of the area took a slight deflection past the diving goalkeeper. The last minute goal sent the players and management wild and the Street did enough to hold on to the points.
The result keeps the Res in second position in the league and they welcome Tregaron to Cae Piod next Saturday for the home fixture.
