Spar League Cup – Semi Final
Bow Street romped in to the Spar League Cup Final with a comprehensive defeat of much fancied Llanfair at Llanidloes on Tuesday night.
The Magpies struck early when skipper Garmon Nutting drove in a shot from the edge of the penalty area. Then Mark Gornall hit a superb free kick past the despairing dive of the Llanfair goalkeeper.
On the half hour, they went three goals up when Neil Evans rose majestically to head home a Gornall free kick. Such was the pace that Bow Street played at, it is a surprise that they did not score more. Llanfair had no response to the domination of the Ceredigion club.
The second half was a much quieter affair as the result had all been confirmed by half time. However, there was time for Tom Evans to add a fourth to send Bow Street on their way to their fifth League Cup Final in the eleven seasons since their promotion to the third tier of football.
They will hope it is fifth time lucky, as they have lost their previous four finals, but realise that Welshpool will be the favourites for the final.
