Junior Tournament 2008

Report

Large crowds were attracted to Bow Street on the weekend of July 12th/13th for the annual ‘Bow Street Juniors Soccer Tournament’, which was kindly sponsored once again by Salop Leisure.

This was the sixth time that Bow Street Football Club had staged this highly successful and enjoyable tournament. The two days were blessed with mainly dry weather although nothing would have dampened the infectious enthusiasm of players and spectators.

Teams from as far apart as Caernarfon, Ludlow and Haverfordwest attended the event, and all visitors were complimentary of the way the tournament was organised and controlled. One team manager said, ‘This has to be the leading tournament for the development of young players in this area, and the friendly welcome by the Bow Street organisers added to the enjoyment.’

Club chairman, Wyn Lewis said,’This tournament takes a great deal of time to organise, and I am grateful to our committee and helpers for their tremendous commitment. Also, a big thanks to the sponsors, Dylan Roberts and Salop Leisure.’

Gerwyn Evans, one of the tournament organisers said, ‘We are absolutely delighted with the success of the tournament. As a club, we are delighted to be able to facilitate an event that brought so much enjoyment to children and adults alike.’
