Junior Tournament 2010

Report

Large crowds were attracted to Bow Street on the weekend of July 10th and 11th for the annual ‘Bow Street Juniors Soccer Festival’, which was kindly sponsored once again by Salop Leisure.

This was the eighth time that Bow Street Football Club had staged this highly successful and enjoyable tournament. The two days were blessed with mainly dry weather although as ever nothing would have dampened the infectious enthusiasm of players and spectators.

Teams from as far apart as Llanrug, and Ludlow attended the event, and all visitors were complimentary of the way the tournament was organised and controlled. A visiting team manager said.

Club chairman, Wyn Lewis said, ’This festival takes a great deal of time to organise, and I am grateful to our committee and helpers for their phenomenal commitment. Also, I wish to thank the sponsors, Dylan Roberts and Salop Leisure for their ongoing and welcome commitment.’

Gerwyn Evans, the main festival organiser said, ‘We are absolutely delighted with the success of the tournament. As a club, we are delighted to be able to facilitate an event that brought so much enjoyment to children and adults alike.’

Over a hundred teams took part in the tournament at the different age groups. On the Saturday, the Festival, which was abiding by FAW regulations, was non – competitive for the under 11’s categories. No trophies were awarded to ‘winning’ teams, but a ‘Fair Play’ award was given in each of the catgories.
