Cambrian Tyres League – Division 1
Bow Street Reserves continued their relentless pursuit of league leaders Bont with an emphatic win over old foes, Tregaron
The home team totally dominated the first half and the only surprise was the the lead was only three goals to nil at half time. Osian Burrell opened the scoring then Justin Quinn and Nick Smith, with a penalty, completed the opening half scoring.
Bow Street relaxed somewhat in the second half, and Tregaron had a fair share of possession without ever really threatening Rhys Evans the Bow Street goalkeeper. But the half was lit up by two sensational goals. The first was a brilliant individual goal by midfielder Guto Havard; a remarkably similar effort to Edin Hazard’s for Chelsea on the same afternoon. The final Bow Street goal was as a result of a great run and cross from Osian Burrell, which was superbly headed in by Gethin ap Dafydd.
Bow Street Reserves now trail Bont by only four points with five games each left to play.
Manager Rhodri Jones was delighted with the performance – “It was an excellent all round display by the whole squad. The most pleasing aspect is the contribution of all the youngsters. This must be one of the youngest squads ever to represent Bow Street Reserves”
Next Saturday, the Reserves face Talybont at Cae Piod in Round 2 of the Len & Julia Newman Trophy.
