Cambrian Tyres League – Division 1
Cae Piod witnessed a thrilling game this weekend which saw the Magpies come out on top in a topsy-turvy 7 goal thriller!
The Magpies started incredibly brightly and were two goals up within the first ten minutes through youngster Shaun Jones, which took his recent tally to 9 goals in 9 games. This seemed to kick start Padarn though and it was their turn to apply the pressure. They went into the half time break having taken the lead 3 goals to 2.
A few strong words from assistant manager Leighton Reynolds seemed to spur the Res again and they came out for the second half on fire. A quick fire double through a wonder strike from James Scarrott and a neat finish from Nick Smith saw the Magpies regain the lead in the first ten minutes of the second half.
The game saw plenty of other chances for both sides. Nick Smith and Gethin ap Dafydd both hit the post and Magpies keeper, Rhys Evans, pulled off a fantastic save from former Street player Kieran Cotter when through one on one.
The game ended 4-3 which helped keep the pressure on Talybont in second place. It was an important victory going into the Christmas break. The Res resume their fixtures in January.
