Cambrian Tyres League – Division 1
A size-able crowd gathered at Cae Piod to witness a vital local derby. Both sides, before the start, still harboured slim hopes of catching Bont at the top. Only Bow Street can achieve that now following an impressive and comfortable win over last season’s champions. Their 3-1 victory ensured that they will finish the season as runners up, but there is a small chance of catching Bont to finish as champions. Should Bow Street win their last game against the University on Thursday, they have to hope that Aberdyfi do them a favour on May 13th when they travel to Bont.
Bow Street enjoyed total domination in the first half and it was a great surprise at half time that the score was only 2-0. Guto Havard scored first, a brilliant individual goal, possibly the best goal seen at Bow Street this season, and shortly afterwards Shaun Jones finished superbly. Some of the football played in the first half by the home youngsters was quite simply superb and a joy to witness.
Second half was more even, and Bow Street sealed the win with a sublime finish from super sub Sion Manley. Talybont scored a consolation in the last minute.
Manager Rhodri Jones was very happy after the game, ‘ Excellent team performance with the youngsters performing heroically, but I have to mention Stephen Harrison whose presence and contribution throughout the game was immense.’
