Cambrian Tyres League – Division 1
Bow Street completed the double over Borth Res in the league this season with a 2-0 home victory. Street changed their team slightly giving Rhodri Hughes his first start in a couple of months after some impressive displays in training with young Ryan Evans coming back into the starting lineup.
With Borth’s first team game getting postponed in the morning, Borth bought a few senior players into the starting lineup, but it was the Magpies that controlled the first half restricting Borth to very few chances. With Shaun Jones and Ian Evans harassing the Borth defence it was only a matter of time before the Magpies broke the deadlock. The breakthrough came midway through the half when the ball broke to Nick Smith in the box and he slotted into the bottom left hand corner.
The Street went into the half time interval one goal to the good.
The second half was more of a contest and Borth caused the Street defence a few more problems, but it was the defence and Rhys Evans that came out on top with some great defending and saves. With half chances for both teams it wasn’t until the final 15 minutes that Street wrapped up all 3 points. It was Smith again that grabbed the goal with a delightful finish with the outside of his foot. The result moved Street ahead of local rivals Talybont into second place.
