Bow Street Res 0 v 1 Cilgerran Rovers

CWFA J Emrys Morgan Cup – Round 2

Saturday 25/11

Bow Street Res crashed out of the Emrys Morgan after a 1-0 loss at home to Cilgerran Rovers. To ensure the tie went ahead the game was played at Park Avenue and both teams enjoyed playing on the perfect surface there, despite the swirling wind.

Bow Street Res started the game brightly and kept possession nicely but rarely threatened the Cilgerran keeper. Cilgerran slowly grew into the game and started to create a few half chances towards the end of the half. Despite both teams keeping possession for periods of the first half neither goal keeper was really tested.

The second half followed the same pattern of the first half with both teams having periods of possession without really creating much. The turning point of the game came 20 minutes from time when Shaun Jones stung the fingers of the visiting goal keeper and from the follow up Joe Williams missed a glorious chance when the keeper pulled off a point blank save. The winning goal came 10 minutes from time when a long ball was not dealt with by the Street defence and the Rovers winger pounced to send the visiting team into the next round.
