Spar Mid Wales League – Division 1
A large crowd attended the local derby at Cae Piod which resulted in Bow Street defeating Aberaeron with a goal in each half. This was the home side’s third win out of four at the start of the league season and the visitors third straight defeat.
Bow Street lost their centre forward Andrew Gittins after twenty minutes but following the reshuffle which resulted in Tom Wyn Roberts coming on to stiffen the defence, Steff Richards followed his two goals on Saturday by putting the home side ahead. Bow Street dominated the remainder of the half, but were unable to add to their lead.
This domination continued in to the second period, and within 15 minutes Tomos Evans produced an excellent finish to double the lead. The youngster Evans who had to fill Gittins lone striker role, deserved his goal in an excellent overall performance. Bow Street came close numerous times to further goals, and whilst Aberaeron produced a spirited fightback in the last five minutes, the game ended as a comfortable and deserved win for the Magpies.
Manager Barry Williams said “We are delighted with the performance tonight. Compliments to all the players. We had to make an early change following Andrew’s injury, but everybody adjusted and adapted to the changed circumstances excellently. It is a busy period, and we have a challenging few days with Carno here on Saturday, and we travel to play Llanidloes under the lights next Tuesday”.
