Cambrian Tyres League – Division 1
Bow Street Res recorded back to back victories, and their third of the season, with their first away victory of the season. The Magpies fielded a strong line-up with captain James Scarrott and Ian Evans returning to the starting line-up instead of Gethin ap Dafydd and Rhys Evans, who both impressed at the weekend. Street got the better of the first half and thoroughly deserved to be leading half-time through Nick Smith’s long range effort midway through the first half.
The introduction of Gethin ap Dafydd in the second half added a new dimension to the Street attack. Osian Burrell and Gethin’s direct running on the wings opened up a lot of room for Iolo ap Dafydd to exploit and it wasn’t long till he took advantage scoring the second goal. Osian Burrell got his rewards for a fine display when he netted from the penalty spot. Gethin ap Dafydd was unlucky not to score when he struck the post. It was his brother Iolo who had the last laugh when he scored with a header from a corner. Borth managed to pull one back in the final few minutes but the game was all but over by then.
The Res now travel to Padarn United on Saturday, which is always a tough place to visit.
