Cambrian Tyres League – Division 1
Bow Street Reserves suffered a heavy defeat this Saturday as they went down by 6 goals to 1 against title favourites Bont. Having to re-shuffle their starting line-up due to a few withdrawals Saturday morning Bont put the Street defence under pressure from the start. They were soon rewarded midway through the first half scoring from a corner. Street however pulled a goal back through a fine Justin Quinn free-kick. That was the final highlight for the Street as Bont took control of the game from then on. Bont added a further two goals before the end of the first half to lead 3-1 at the break.
With the game virtually over when Bont scored to make it 4-1 in the first 5 minutes of the second half the young Street team battled well till the end. Several 16 year olds made their competitive debut towards the end of the game but it was the experience of the Bont team that had the final say. Another two goals were added before the final whistle to put them in control at the top of the league after only two games. Hopefully the Street will learn from this game and we look to put things right against Machynlleth Res at home in the next game.
